The main objective of this research is to compare the effectiveness of the Woodpex III® and Propex Pixi® apex locators in the determination of the total apical length as far as the apical foramen.Materials and Methods: The present research has a quantitative, observational, cross-sectional and comparative nature; the sample is constituted by 30 single-rooted dental pieces with closed apexes, digital radiographies were taken. The crown was sectioned to achieve a better access, the permeability of the canal was performed with a lime K flex #8 file, the irrigation was performed using 4% sodium hypochlorite for greater inorganic tissue elimination. A K flex file was introduced inside the conduct until noticing the very file’s tip in the apical constriction with the help of a stereoscopic microscope at a 56x augmentation magnitude. The endodontic top was placed at that distance and was set with a gingival barrier (Opaldam). Then the measure was taken using a calibrator (Tactix) and the resultant values were introduced in an electronic sheet (Excel). The samples were introduced in oral foam (Oasis), the root canal was irrigated with physiologic serum for better conduction and then a measuring was performed with the Woodpex III® apex locator and another with the Propex Pixi® locator, introducing a K flex file in accordance to the conduct’s diameter in each sample, stopping it in the moment where each locator would indicate that the apical foramen was reached, after that a endodontic top was placed to avoid alterations en the measuring. The length was measured in millimeters using the digital calibrator and the resulting values were introduced in an electronic sheet (Excel). Results: A Student’s T Test for paired up samples was applied to the obtained results to determinate the statistical significance in a 95% reliability. After the assay it was found that there is no statistically significant difference (p=0.692) between the real length and that one obtained by the Propex Pixi® apex locator, setting up the accuracy of it. Besides it was found that there is no statistically significant difference (p=0.391) between the real length and that one obtained by the Propex Pixi® apex locator, setting up the accuracy of it. In conclusions when comparing the total length till the real apical foramen with the lengths given by Propex Pixi® and Woodpex III®, it was found that there is no statistically significant difference with a reliability of 95% between the real length and the lengths obtained by the apex locators, setting up the accuracy of both and showing up that the Propex Pixi® is a little bit more efficient than the Woodpex III®.
