Water pollution produced by heavy metals is a problem that is affecting the entire ecosystem. In Peruvian rivers, one of the more present pollutants is lead. According to the UN, 1.6 million Peruvians are exposed to diseases due to lead poisoning, which causes a need for measurement equipment that collects information on the lead concentration in rivers. This research work presents the lead concentration acquisition systems through voltammetry that have been designed and implemented in recent years. The first chapter presents the problem regarding water contamination by lead and introduces the different electrochemical devices for measuring the concentration of said metal. The second chapter shows the state of the art of portable lead concentration acquisition devices using voltammetry. Finally, the third chapter presents the theoretical framework used to implement or develop a hand-held device for lead concentration acquisition in water.
