(r=.39; p<.001), y “Autosuficiencia emocional e incomodidad con la intimidad” (r=.40;
The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between alexithymia and adult attachment in the interpersonal relationships of emerging adults in Metropolitan Lima. A probabilistic convenience sampling of 206 participants was used, without distinction of gender, educational level or socioeconomic status. To achieve the proposed objective, the Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS-20) adapted by Moral (2008) and the Cuestionario de Apego Adulto (Adult Attachment Questionnaire) by Melero and Cantero (2008) were used. Descriptive statistics and Spearman's rho coefficient were used for data analysis. The findings showed that there is a significant relationship between alexithymia and adult attachment. Specifically, alexithymia is negatively related to the attachment dimension “Expression of attachment emotions and comfort with relationships“ (r=-.56; p<.001); and positively with the dimensions “Low selfesteem, need for approval and fear of rejection“ (r=.54; p<.001), “Hostile resolution of conflicts, resentment and possessiveness“ (r=.39; p<.001). 001), and “Emotional selfsufficiency and discomfort with intimacy” (r=.40; p<.001). It is recommended to replicate the research with a larger sample and outside the context of social isolation for the comparison of results.
