Experiential services define experiences as their main value proposal, carefully designing a sequence of events that encourages an emotional response from the client. An optimal design of experiences can evoke emotions in a profound way and even, induce actions in the behavior of the client. In this way, a close relationship between experience and behavioral intentions emerges. Currently, research on services is focused on defining strategies that maximize the emotional response of the client by taking advantage of external elements such as: narrative structures or peak events. Two trends are identified in the literature on experiential services: affect-based event programming, which employs the use and positioning of peak events to achieve greater emotional response from the client; and the insertion of narrative structures, which benefits from the emotional and relational power of stories to achieve a positive effect on the client’s behavioral intentions. To the author’s knowledge, the latter trend does not have clear evidence of the effects obtained from the insertion of narrative structures in experiential services. This study presents one of the first empirical proofs about the power of inserting narrative structures in experiential services. Through the design and development of an experiment, the assessments of 467 participants were gathered to test these strategies. The results show that the use of a narrative structures in experiential services generates a positive change on the client’s behavioral intentions.
