Alluvial artisanal gold mining represents a serious danger to Amazonian ecosystems in Peru due to the use of dangerous inputs such as mercury or cyanide, which may not be properly managed in an artisanal context. In the present investigation, a gold leaching process is designed with the hypochlorite/chloride system in an agitated tank using a mineral concentrate from the Madre de Dios region, Peru. The tests were carried out on a laboratory scale and varying different operating parameters, such as stirring speed, number of baffles and type of reactor bottom. The best conditions found were a round bottom reactor, three baffles and a stirring speed of 1000 rev/min, achieving gold extractions of up to 63%. Other combinations also demonstrated improved efficiency, with extractions of 40-60%, which exceeds the efficiency of artisanal mining (between 30% to 50%). Based on the results, the scaling of the proposed process was studied and an economic evaluation was carried out, demonstrating that it is feasible to implement this method in a slaughter plant in Madre de Dios, since the Net Present Value (NPV) is $11,081.6 and the Internal Rate of Return (IRR) is 23% projected to five years and processing 156 batches per year.
