This research explores the impact of the Southern Interoceanic Road Corridor (CVIS) on the non-monetary poverty for the Quispicanchi province in Cusco; Tambopata and Manu in Madre de Dios and Azángaro, Carabaya, Lampa and Melgar in Puno. We use a quasi-experimental design to identify the Average Treatment Effect or ATE of the CVIS in non-monetary poverty. We use the data of the National Household Survey of INEI for the years 2005 and 2018 in the estimation of the difference-in-differences model in conjunction with the Propensity Score Matching (Pareamiento por puntaje de propensión) technique. The results found suggest that the construction of the Interoceanic Road corridor had a limited effect in reducing non- monetary poverty in the provinces within the zone of influence of the CVIS. We find that the existence of road infrastructure increases the probability of having a home with adequate physical characteristics by 7%, however, there are no real effects on the number of children attending school or the economic independence of households within the zone of influence of the CVIS.
