Background: Unwanted pregnancy increases year by year, even more so in adolescents and young people, which is associated with inadequate sanitary education in sexual and reproductive health, which is corroborated by the increase in pregnancy at an early age. The objective of the study was to determine the influence of knowledge on the attitudes and use of the Emergency Oral Contraceptive (EOC) in students of a Technological Institute of Cusco, 2023. Methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out in 209 students of a Technological Institute of Cusco, during the month of July 2023, prior informed consent. Frequency measures (number and %), the OR as a measure of association and statistical significance tests (95%CI and p value) were used. The level of use of the AOE was carried out only in the students who reported having used the AOE at least once (72). Results: 88% of the students have heard of AOE. 55.98% presented an inadequate level of knowledge, 60.29% presented an adequate attitude towards AOE and 95% had appropriate use of AOE. An association was found between the level of inadequate knowledge with inadequate attitudes towards EOC (OR=2.88, IC95%[1.59-5.19], p=0.000) and with the level of inappropriate use (OR=2.0, IC95%[0.26-15.01] , p=0.000). Conclusions: The study showed an inadequate level of knowledge about AOE, however, the level of attitudes and level of use of AOE was more adequate and appropriate; which shows the need to strengthen health education actions on sexual and reproductive health from the school level and in higher education.
