This study is an observational, descriptive, cross-sectional main objetive was to estimate the dietary intake in relation to the nutritional status of children 2-5 years old. The population consisted of 95 children who are beneficiaries of E.I “Hope and Charity“ in 2011, this institution is located in the district of Chorrillos. In order to achieve the specific objectives was assessed anthropometric measures weight, height. Dietary survey was also conducted as physical activity which were addressed to the mother of the study child. It was found that 3% of children in were obese, 12% are overweight and a large majority (35%) is on the verge of being overweight. It was also observed that the power provided by the institution exceeded the requirements for energy, protein and carbohydrate and were lower in fat and fiber source. Regarding both exceeded micronutrientes vitamin A, such as iron and zinc. Also the percentage of adequacy of food intake given to the child outside the institution was too much for the macromolecuales as for micronutrients. It was observed that the frequency of consumption of food, the child receives daily macro and micronutrients in excess, and little or no fiber in your daily diet.
