The general objective of the study was to investigate the relationship between Physician-Patient Communication Preferences and Adherence to Treatment in INEN ostomy cancer patients. The study belongs to the descriptive level, quantitative, correlational. The sample is made up of 70 ostomy cancer patients of both sexes, aged between 18 and 69 years. The Physician-Patient Communication Preferences Questionnaire in cancer patients adapted by Paredes, M. in 2015 and the Scale of Adherence to Cancer Treatment – EATC created by Raymundo, O. in 2011, were used. The results corroborate that there is not significant relationship between Physician-Patient Communication Preferences and Adherence to Treatment; However, a significant association (p.> .05) was found between Physician-Patient Communication Preferences and care-grooming, referring to the emotional support scale. On the other hand, regarding the levels of communication preference, the Assertive Diagnosis factor and the Information Factor represent the most preferred, also, in terms of levels of Adherence to Treatment, it was observed that only 24.3% present high levels of Adherence to Treatment. Results that show the need to develop new lines of research in the first instance, thus contributing to the updating of data and its practical scope in the future; It is necessary to structure initial and psychoeducational treatment programs to improve the levels of adherence to treatment in the oncological population.
