The study determined the relationship between energy adequacy and body composition in adolescent pre - professional soccer players of a sports club in January 2020. The study was descriptive, correlational, observational level and non-experimental, cross-sectional, and primary design. A sample of 49 evaluated was tested; the anthropometric evaluation was performed using the protocol of the International Society for the Advancement of Kinanthropometry (ISAK), the dietary intake was estimated through the Quantified Frequency of Consumption Survey (EFCC) and the 24-hour Reminder Questionnaire (R24h) applied for three not consecutive days. A database was structured in SPSS, the relationship of variables was estimated with the statistical test of Fisher's exact test. The results indicated that the average Body Mass Index (BMI) was 23 kg/m2. The average percentages of adipose and muscle tissue were 22.76% and 45.9%, respectively. Of the total evaluated, 18% were overweight, and 82% were normal; the percentage of energy adequacy on average was 81% (2574kcal/day), the macronutrient intake on average was lipids, proteins, and carbohydrates of 82 g/day, 103 g/day, and 387 g/day of the total caloric value, respectively. Conclusion: There was a direct and significant association between the percentage of adipose mass and the percentage of energy adequacy. On the other hand, the consumption of proteins, carbohydrates, and lipids was not associated with the percentage (%) of muscle mass, and fat mass.
