The index corporal mass is one of the criteria mainly used for the diagnosis of the obesity in the adult population. Nevertheless, the same one determines the nutritional condition taking in consideration the overweight, more not the excess of corporal fat. The most accurate methods in the clinical practice would be the most sophisticated and costly; such as anthropometry and electrical bioimpedance. For it, the general aim of the study was compare the index corporal mass as a predictor of obesity in comparison to bioimpedance electrical in young students. It was realized in 368 students of both sexes of SENATI Independencia, seat Independence, with ages understood between 18 and 25 years. The investigation was place in the quantitative approach, based on a not experimental design, correlacional and of transverse court. The analysis of information was realize across the statistical software SPSS version 25 and verification of the index corporal mass to bioimpedance electrical, Spearman’s correlation coefficient was used. In which, was found a statistically significant, moderate and directly proportional linear relationship between the body mass index and the percentage of body fat of electrical bioimpedance. (rs=0.641, p<0.05).
