This study aims to identify hospitalized patients who may suffer from deep vein thrombosis in the internal medicine department of the Lambayeque Regional Hospital. To achieve this, a descriptive study of a simple type was conducted, applying a survey that included demographic data along with the items from the Wells Scale. A total of 90 patients participated in the study, of which 58.89% were male. Regarding associated pathologies, a predominance of infections was evident in 78.89%. In terms of age, no significant correlation was observed with the total risk score for deep vein thrombosis. When applying the Wells Scale, it was found that 43% of participants were at high risk of developing deep vein thrombosis. It was concluded that hospitalized patients in the internal medicine department of the Lambayeque Regional Hospital have a high risk of developing deep vein thrombosis, with active cancer being the most frequently associated pathology, followed by hypercoagulability disorders and latent infections.
