Sincé time inmemorial, natural products have played a fundamental role in traditional medicine for the treatment of various diseases. Today, its relevance persists, especially in the field of complementary medicine. Plants and foods rich in flavonoids and other bioactive compounds have been shown to have beneficial health properties, particularly in the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases, such as hypertension. 10 scientific articles published in the last five years on the impact of flavonoids and other phytochemicals in the management of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases were analyzed through qualitative synthesis. The results obtained from the articles suggest that “The impact of flavonoids and other phytochemicals in the management of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases” coincide with the same type of study and almost all the same metabolites were found for various diseases. Conclusion: the flavonoids and anthocyanins present in these foods have demonstrated effectiveness in the prevention and treatment of various pathologies, including hypertension, cancer and metabolic diseases. Research highlights the importance of including these compounds in the daily diet to improve cardiovascular health and mitigate the risk of chronic diseases.
