Objective: this research aims to analyze the relationship between knowledge and practices for the prevention of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease in merchants of the San José market, Juliaca, during july 2024. Methodology: quantitative approach with a non-experimental, deductive and cross-sectional design. The population included 17,200 merchants, from which a sample of 376 was taken. A questionnaire was applied as a data collection instrument, using the survey technique. Results: the results obtained through the Spearman correlation test indicated a coefficient of 0.072, evidencing a very weak relationship. In addition, the significance value was 0.164, higher than 0.05, suggesting that there is no correlation between the variables. The level of knowledge on the prevention of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease was classified as regular in 52.13%, adequate in 47.34% and inadequate in 0.53%. In terms of practices, 50.53% were considered inadequate, 48.67% average, and 0.80% adequate. Conclusions: the absence of a significant relationship between knowledge and practices on the prevention of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease indicates a gap between acquired knowledge and its practical application. Thus, knowledge alone does not guarantee the adoption of healthy practices.
