Diabetes is a chronic metabolic condition characterized by elevated blood glucose levels. The aim of the study was to determine the relationship between self-care and nutritional status in users with Type II Diabetes mellitus treated at the Regional Hospital of Ica – Peru in 2023. Material and Methods: The study was correlational, descriptive, quantitative, and cross-sectional, with a probabilistic sample of 144 patients from the diabetes mellitus program at the Regional Hospital. A national questionnaire developed by Cabanilla and Deza in 2016, adapted in 2020 by Martínez Velapatiño Rocío, with a reliability of 0.91, was used. Results: Regarding self-care, 62.5% of patients with Type II Diabetes mellitus showed a regular level, 33.3% had a good level, and 4.2% had a poor level. Regarding nutritional status, 60.4% were overweight, 19.4% had normal nutritional status, 16.0% had obesity level I, and 3.5% had obesity level II. 0.7% were underweight, with no cases in the category of obesity level III. Conclusion: There is a relationship between self-care and nutritional status in users with Type II Diabetes mellitus treated at the Regional Hospital of Ica – Peru in 2023, with a Spearman correlation coefficient of 0.343 (p < 0.01), indicating a moderate positive correlation.
