The aim of this study was to evaluate the knowledge of postpartum mothers about neonatal screening at the Iquitos César Garayar García Hospital's Joint Lodging Service in 2023. A total of 169 postpartum mothers out of a population of 300 were evaluated through interviews and the use of surveys. The results revealed that most of the mothers surveyed had a low level of knowledge of both the basic aspects of the screening test (65%) and its procedure (73.4%), with a lower percentage demonstrating medium (17.8% and 16.6%) and high (17.2% and 10%) knowledge, respectively. In addition, a significant relationship was identified between the level of knowledge and sociodemographic variables such as age, education level and parity, showing that younger, less educated and primiparous mothers tend to have more limited knowledge. These findings highlight the urgent need to implement educational strategies aimed at improving mothers' understanding of this crucial test for neonatal health and suggest the importance of addressing these knowledge gaps in health care and public health programs.
