Objective. To determine the prevalence and characteristics in patients living with HIV treated at Hospital Iquitos César Garayar García period 2022. Methodology. Descriptive, non-experimental, cross-sectional study, with retrospective design. The sample and population was made up of one hundred HIV positive patients. Result. Prevalence of 23.2%. In the sociodemographic characteristics: 49% (49) belong to the age range of 27 to 59 years and in the pregnant population 69.2% (18) at ages 20 to 35 years, in the second trimester of pregnancy in 38.4 %; 60% (60) were female (including pregnant women), 62.2% (46) had a secondary education level in both populations, 50.0% (37) lived in urban areas; 54.1% (40) in both populations, in occupation are dedicated to independent work and in pregnant population73.1% (19) are housewives, marital status cohabitants in both populations. In the sexual characteristics: 55.4% (41) had 5 or more sexual partners and in the pregnant population 61.5% (16) had 3 to 4 sexual partners: 74.3% (55) did not use the method barrier the same as in the pregnant population 88.5% (23); 62.2% (46) had no history of STIs, in the pregnant population 96.2% (25) did have a history of STIs; 89.2% (66) started sexual relations before or at 18 years of age, the same occurs in the pregnant population in 96.2% (25); 77.0% (57) consider themselves heterosexual. In clinical characteristics: TCD4 lymphocytes between 200 to 499/mm3 in both populations and the viral load was detectable. Conclusion. There is a high prevalence of people with HIV.
