Abstract: La presente investigación, tiene como objetivo determinar la prevalencia de la enfermedad gingival en las personas adultas del AA.HH MAMMA IRENE ETAPA I del distrito de san juan bautista. La investigación es cuantitativo, no experimental, transversales, descriptivos, no comparativos o correlacionales. la muestra estuvo conformada por 150 pacientes entre varones y mujeres en edades de 20 a 39 y 40 a 60 años respectivamente. Para la recolección de datos se utilizó el índice gingival de loe y silness. Las variables que se vio en este estudio fueron; edad, sexo, y la clasificación de la enfermedad gingival.
Para procesar los datos obtenidos se utilizó los programas SPSS, EXCELL y la estadística descriptiva. Según el proceso y análisis de los resultados se llegó a los siguientes resultados: el cuadro 1 muestra el 56.67% de las personas adultas evaluadas presentaron enfermedad gingival, el otro 43.33% no presentaron esta condición, por lo que se puede estimar que la PREVALENCIA de la enfermedad gingival en los pobladores del AA. HH MAMMA IRENE etapa I es 85 personas por cada 150 evaluados aproximadamente. El cuadro 2 presentó una mayor PREVALENCIA de la enfermedad gingival en personas cuyas edades oscilan entre 20 y 39 años representando este un 32.7%, a comparación del 24% de las personas cuyas edades están entre 40 y 60 años, porcentualmente menor a la anterior. El cuadro 3, Se observo una mayor prevalencia en el sexo femenino siendo este un 32.67% es decir 49 personas, a comparación del 24% de sexo masculino siendo estas 36 personas de las que participaron en este estudio, siendo más PREVALENTE en el sexo femenino. El cuadro 4, Se puede observar que de las personas adultas que participaron en este estudio el 45.88% tienen la enfermedad gingival severa, el 38.82% presentan la enfermedad gingival moderada y el 15.29% presentan la enfermedad gingival leve, siendo más PREVALENTE la enfermedad gingival severa.
Finalmente, de los resultados obtenidos se puede concluir que más del 50% de muestra población en estudio padece de enfermedad gingival, lo cual con el análisis descrito respondemos a nuestra hipótesis Hi.
