The purpose of this project is to evaluate the cost and time of the Gabion and Gravity type containment structures for their execution. The fundamental reason for the current situation to arise lies in the fact that basic knowledge about construction techniques and the economic impact that these can generate in carrying out civil works projects are scattered in very few texts of Research. The general strategy is based on the application research modality. It has a finite population since it is known that 2 types of retaining walls were analyzed. Retaining walls are structural elements widely used in civil works, whose purpose is the containment of land for the stabilization of natural slopes, the formation of embankments for highways, the formation of abutments for passage works, etc. In recent decades they have had a strong technological development, mainly due to the appearance of new solution alternatives as a complement to those of more traditional use. The progress achieved in the development of these structures has gone through the incorporation of new materials for their design, the definition of new construction methods and the creation of new structural elements from traditionally used materials. This is how a large part of the current applications in engineering are oriented to the reinforcement of soils and the use of the materials of each of them. The purpose of retaining walls is to resist the lateral pressures or thrust produced by the material retained behind them, their stability is fundamentally due to their own weight and the weight of the material that is on their foundation. The walls basically behave as cantilevers embedded in their base. The seismic design of walls is important to minimize the devastating effects of earthquakes on retaining structures, damage to land routes, bridge abutments, the risk to human lives, as well as serious economic, social and environmental problems. Contribution of this research project was to determine which of the three types of walls will be indicated as riverside defense with lower budgets, meeting the proposed objectives, the retaining wall design will prevent overflow in a critical section km 12 + 550 of the Neighborhood Road Section: Emp. Pe 5n10 – (Buenos Aires), San Antonio de Paujilzapa, Picota Province, San Martin Department. Once the analysis of the problem in the area is completed, an analysis of the possible alternative solution will be carried out, in this particular case it will be through a gabion wall or gravity wall.
