The objective of this report was to determine the level of severity of malocclusions and the need for orthodontic treatment in students of the Educational Institution 60946 Mariscal Oscar R. Benavides, Iquitos 2023, where a basic research type descriptive level and experimental design was chosen; made up of a population of 2636 students who were used an observation sheet for data collection. The results indicate that half of the students with mild malocclusion do not need orthodontic treatment, indicating that their alignment is acceptable. A notable percentage with defined malocclusion requires additional treatment to improve aesthetics or functions. However, due to the high level of severe and very severe malocclusion, orthodontic treatment is prioritized to improve oral health and well-being. In addition, students between the ages of 13, 15, and 16 show normal or slightly deviated occlusion; while students aged 13, 14, 15 and 16 have a low need for orthodontic treatment, except for a small portion of students older than 14, needing an elective or elective procedure. However, a small group of 15-year-olds shows a desirable treatment need. Finally, the percentage of mild malocclusion is slightly higher in men, which does not require treatment, while the percentage of defined malocclusion is slightly higher in women presenting a need for optional or elective treatment.
