of the research is to determine the relationship of the pre-gestational weight of the mother with the intrauterine growth retardation of the newborns of mothers attended in the prenatal office of the Regional Hospital of Loreto, year 2019. Methodology: The study is retrospective, correlational, descriptive and cross-sectional. Sample: The sample consists of 400 medical records of mothers treated at the Regional Hospital of Loreto in 2019, which meet the inclusion criteria. Results: The sociodemographic characteristics: age (p=0.040), degree of education of the mother (p=0.047) have a significant relationship with intrauterine growth retardation of the newborn. On the other hand, marital status (p=0, 298), and occupation (p=297), has no significant relationship with intrauterine growth retardation of the newborn. The obstetric characteristics pregestational body mass index (p=0.030), weight gain (p= 0.048) and pre-natal control of the mother (p=0.000) are significantly related to intrauterine growth retardation of the newborn; of the mothers treated at the Regional Hospital of Loreto 2019. Conclusion: the highest frequency of newborns treated at the Regional Hospital of Loreto (90%) do not have IUGR, only 10% show intrauterine growth retardation (IUGR). in 2019.
