Hyperemesis gravidarum is one of the issues usually dealt with in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinical Psychology despite a 2% to 3% of pregnant women suffer from this problem being the cause of the hospitalization rate more than 50 000 pregnantwomen in the United States. The etiology of this disease include biological factors (hormonal, gastrointestinal, nutritional), psychological (personality, distress or anxiety, inappropriate messages about pregnancy, depression) and environmental (family conflicts). Little is known about hyperemesis gravidarum in the Loreto region. Just found one thesis which looked for risk factors associated with hyperemesis gravidarum in the Loreto Regional Hospital, it concludes that obesity and emocional problems (of which the most important is anxiety) are two risk factors associated with hyperemesis gravidarum. In the Hospital Regional de Loreto, hyperemesis gravidarum is identifed only as a medical problem, and therefore, it is considered that only has a negative impact on the patient's physiological functioning, leaving pending psychological functioning and/or social development impact JUSTIFICATION Psychological manifestations are poorly studied and treated in most of the time, in spite of anxiety and depression are to common psychological entities in pregnant women, so I give more emphasis on these two diseases and whether the Anxiety and Depression emocional factors are associated with hyperemesis gravidarum in pregant women in Loreto Regional Hospital from January 2007 to December 2008, to provide adequate and timely treatment to patient and thus prevent further complications, as well as we will use this information for future studies. OBJECTIVES Establish whether the anxiety and depression are emocional factors associated with hyperemesis gravidarum in pregnant women in Loreto Regional Hospital from January 2007 to December 2008. METHODOLOGY The type and design of the research is retrospective, bivariate, correlational and cross transversal. The study population consisted of all pregant women atended in the Hopsital Regional Loreto from January 2007 to December 2008, which were applied the inclusion and exclusion criteria. In addition, a standardized fomm and a psychological test ere elaborated. RESULTS • The study found that 42.6% (26) of all pregnant women had anxiety, as opposed to 34.4% (21) who had not. • In the concern of depression was found that it was presented in the 24.5% (15) of all pregnant women, as opposed to 39.4% (24) who had no depression. • Anxiety is present more frequently in the hyperemesis gravidarum compared with depression. • It was found that pregnant women with severe symptoms of hyperemesis gravidarum with anxiety account for 24.5% (15) of all pregnant women, a difference of 4 9% (3) of all pregant women with severe symptoms of hyperemesis gravidarum and have no anxiety. • Pregnant women with hyperemesis gravidarum severe symptoms associated with depression has been accounted for 11.4% (7) of all pregnant women, a difference of 3.3% (2) of all pregnant women with severe symptoms of hyperemesis gravidarum with not have depression. RECOMMENDATIONS • Finding a relation between anxiety, depression and the degree of severity of hyperemesis gravidarum, it is recommended that the control program Pre-Natal makes workshops with the aim of reducing levels of anxiety and depression. • lt was found that anxiety and depression are two important factors that exist in our # environment which affect pregnant women leading to hyperemesis gravidarum, for that reason is recommended malee campaigns through the comunications media teaching how to recognize those symptoms and elaborat activities which may decrease the levels of anxiety and depression.
