INTRODUCTION: Childhood vaccination is intended to reduce mortality and morbidity rates from preventable diseases. However, there is still a considerable dropout and non-completion of the recommended vaccination schedule. OBJECTIVES: To identify the sociodemographic factors of mothers associated with the dropout of pentavalent vaccination in children between 12-23 months of age in Peru in the year 2020. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Cross-sectional analytical observational study based on an analysis of secondary data from ENDES 2020. A multivariate analysis with the Poisson family was performed to calculate crude and adjusted prevalences. RESULTS: A 5.45% dropout from vaccination was found. Mothers with a mother tongue other than Spanish or Quechua had a PR of 2.82 (CI: 1.34-5.04) to dropout vaccination compared to mothers with Spanish mother tongue. Children with a birth order number greater than 3 had a PR of 2.70 (CI: 1.35-6.78) compared to children who are the mother's first children. Mothers who did not comply with the recommended number of prenatal check-ups had a PR of 2.41 (CI: 1.15-3.75) compared to those who did. CONCLUSIONS: The variables associated with access to health services are observed to be the most significant, so the promotion of maternal and child health activities must be effective and carried out jointly to reinforce their integration in these groups that do not carry out continuous activities.
