Maternal factors associated with intrauterine growth retardation in a Level III Hospital in the city of Iquitos, 2020. Bach. GRACE PIERINA TORRES DIAZ, obs. Introduction: Intrauterine growth retardation is a prevalent health problem in our country, with higher rates in jungle and highland regions, the identification of predisposing factors allows in establishing prevention and promotion policies for its reduction. Objective: To determine the maternal factors associated with intrauterine growth retardation in a Level III Hospital in the city of Iquitos, 2020. Methodology: Quantitative study of observational, analytical, case-control design, with 32 cases of mothers with newborns with IUGR and 64 controls. Results: The factors that were significantly associated with the presence of newborns with IUGR were younger than 20 years (OR=4.61, p=0.002), older than 34 years (OR= 2.27, p=0.000), mothers from the marginal urban area (OR=4.38, p=0.018); nulliparous (OR=11. 52, p=0.018), insufficient prenatal care (OR=4.91, p=0.000), low pregestational weight (OR=7.89, p=0.001), anemic mothers (OR=3.71, p=0.041), mothers with pregnancy-induced hypertension (OR=4.50, p=0.043) and mothers with preeclampsia (OR= 6.00, p=0.044). Conclusion: Maternal sociodemographic and obstetric factors are associated with the presence of newborn with IUGR.
