Neonatal sepsis is a prevalent problem in our region, which increases the neonatal mortality rate, its prevalence has been associated with maternal and neonatal factors. Objective: To determine the maternal factors associated with neonatal sepsis in a level III hospital in the city of Iquitos, 2019 - 2020. Methodology: Quantitative, descriptive analytical case control study, with 38 cases with newborns with neonatal sepsis and 76 controls with newborns without neonatal sepsis. Results: Teenage mothers (OR=2.39, p=0.044), those who come from rural areas (OR=5.9, p=0.030), marginal urban areas (OR=2.75, p=0.022), with insufficient number of prenatal care (OR =3.13, p=0.005) with morbidity during pregnancy (OR=2.39, p=0.042) are risk factors for presenting a newborn with neonatal sepsis. The morbidities associated with neonatal sepsis were anemia (OR=2.70, p=0.036), urinary infection (OR= 2.67, p=0.041), low pre-pregnancy weight (OR= 2.72, p=0.044), prematurity (OR= 3.03, p=0.030) and premature rupture of membranes (OR=8.25, p=0.007) Conclusion: Sociodemographic and obstetric characteristics are associated with the prevalence of neonatal sepsis
