The present investigation provides a deep and essential insight into soil mechanics, especially with regard to triaxial tests and their application in clay soils. Soil mechanics is a critical branch of civil and geotechnical engineering that focuses on understanding the behavior of soils and their ability to support loads. Triaxial tests are a fundamental part of this discipline, since they allow the mechanical properties of soils to be measured, such as resistance to shear stress and cohesion. It also addresses key concepts of soil mechanics. Introduces fundamental concepts such as Mohr's circle and the Mohr-Coulomb failure criterion, which are essential tools for understanding the behavior of soils under different stress conditions. Additionally, several tests are described, including the simple compression test and the triaxial compression test, which are used to determine the mechanical properties of soils. The present research also focuses on the evaluation of the resistance of clay soils through multistage triaxial compression tests. These tests are a valuable tool to understand the behavior of clay soils under specific stress conditions. Particular attention is paid to cohesion and the angle of internal friction, two critical properties of clay soils that influence their ability to carry loads. Testing procedures, necessary equipment, and interpretation of results are discussed. In general, they are of great relevance for civil engineering and geotechnics. Understanding the mechanical properties of soils is essential for the design and construction of safe and durable structures, such as building foundations, dams, and roads. Triaxial tests, in particular, provide quantitative data that engineers use to make informed decisions on their projects. In summary, this research provides an in-depth look at soil mechanics and triaxial testing, with a special focus on clay soils. They are valuable resources for students, professionals and researchers in the field of civil engineering and geotechnics, as they provide a solid foundation for understanding and evaluating the behavior of soils and, ultimately, ensuring the safety and stability of built structures. about them.
