The inadequate handling of liquid waste from the beds, which due to their origin contain a high concentration of organic matter when discharged into bodies of water, causes serious problems, such as the death of various organisms and public health problems (2). Due to this, the use of microalgae for nutrient removal has been studied for more than 50 years, proving that the algal biomass obtained has a high content of proteins, lipids and carbohydrates (6). The objective was to evaluate the removal of contaminants from the liquid waste discharged by the Punchana Municipal Camal using three genera of microalgae, as well as its evaluation in the production of biomass and accumulation of total lipids. The evaluation consisted of exposing the microalgae Chlorella sp, Scenedesmus sp. and Ankistrodesmus sp. to liquid waste segregated by the Punchana municipal pipeline in concentrations (1: 1 v / v 1: 2 v / v) in triplicate for a period of 15 days. The removal was determined by initial and final pH analysis, ammonia nitrogen, nitrogen nitrite, alkalinity, carbon dioxide and chloride. The extraction of lipids was performed by gravimetry with a chloroform: methanol extracting solution (2: 1). The results indicate that Ankistrodesmus sp. obtained the highest growth rate with 0.23 d-1, however, the microalgal species that showed the highest biomass production was Scenedesmus sp. with 483.43 mg/L. Regarding the accumulation of total lipids, the species that showed the highest production was Ankistrodesmus sp. with 20.27%. The three microalgal genera reported a positive removal of contaminants in terms of the measurement of initial and final variables, concluding that the three genders have the capacity to remove contaminants, however, similar results were not obtained regarding the growth rate, biomass and accumulation of total lipids, being Ankistrodesmus sp, who showed better response to the treatments with slaughterhouse waters.
