The study aimed to determine the relationship between knowledge and practice on the use of micronutrient in mothers of children from 6 to 36 months of age. Quantitative method, transverse, correlational design was used. Sample constituted 90 mothers treated in the clinic of CRED. Data were collected through the application of the technique of the survey and the home visits; instruments, used a questionnaire and an observation sheet. Processed data with the statistical program SPSS version 22. The results were: 64.4% had adequate knowledge and 35.6% inadequate knowledge; 68.9% they correctly practiced the use of micronutrient and 31.1% practiced incorrectly. To determine the relationship between the knowledge and practices of mothers, was obtained a X 2 c = 27.599, DF = 1, p = 0.000, α = 0,05 indicates, that there is a statistically significant relationship between the two variables. These results will contribute to reinforce the educational actions in the strategy of CRED, establishing a more fluid communication and influence the adoption of healthy dietary practices of mothers, in order to improve the nutritional status of this age group.
