Abstract: Introducción: Existen factores que influyen en una adecuada relación entre el profesional de
la salud y el paciente, como la empatía, siendo ésta una cualidad de carácter cognitivo
emocional, desarrollado en la niñez, reforzado en los años de formación académica y perdido
en el ejercer diario de la profesión. Un buen empleo de esta cualidad influye en un adecuado
tratamiento y posterior recuperación del paciente.
Objetivo: Determinar la asociación entre las escuelas profesionales de ciencias de la salud
del Cusco y la empatía en los estudiantes, en el semestre 2022-I.
Materiales y métodos: Estudio analítico, observacional, transversal, prospectivo, realizado
en estudiantes de Escuelas Profesionales de Ciencias de la Salud de la Universidad Andina
del Cusco y de la Universidad Nacional San Antonio Abad del Cusco. Se incluyeron 667
estudiantes en quienes se aplicó una ficha de recolección de datos y la Escala de Empatía de
Jefferson. Para el análisis de datos se utilizó las pruebas Kruskal Wallis; U de Mann Whitney
y Correlación de Spearman.
Resultados: Se incluyeron las respuestas en su totalidad, obteniendo un nivel de empatía
global en los estudiantes de 90.03 + 12.3 (de 140) de los cuales los estudiantes que obtuvieron
mayor nivel de empatía fueron los de la escuela de Odontología y los de menor nivel de
empatía fueron de Medicina Humana; con diferencia estadísticamente significativa
(p=0,004). Por escuela según universidad, se observó que Medicina Humana-UNSAAC,
obtuvo el menor nivel de empatía con una media de 86,33(±8,8), y Odontología-UAC obtuvo
el mayor nivel con una media de 94,76(±13,1), con diferencias estadísticamente significativas
(p=0,030). Así mismo los resultados según el sexo, las mujeres obtuvieron una media de
empatía de 89,23(±11,3) y los varones una media de 92,66(±14,9), siendo los varones más
empáticos, con diferencia estadísticamente significativa (p=0,006).Conclusiones: Se observo que si existe asociación entre el puntaje de empatía según la
escuela profesional. Por el sexo se encontró diferencia significativa siendo los varones más
empáticos que las mujeres. No existe diferencia por la edad, funcionalidad familiar, lugar de
procedencia ni universidad de estudio.
