The present study, entitled “ACTIVE METHODOLOGY IN THE TEACHING OF BASIC MATHEMATICS IN GENERAL EDUCATION STUDIES AT THE ANDEAN UNIVERSITY, CENTRAL CUSCO CAMPUS 2022-II,“ aimed to establish how active methodology will improve the teaching of Basic Mathematics carried out by faculty in the General Education Studies at the Andean University, Central Cusco Campus 2022-II. The methodology had a quantitative focus and descriptive-propositive scope, utilizing a crosssectional non-experimental design. The sample included 220 students enrolled in the academic semester 2022-II and 24 mathematics teachers, using observation techniques and surveys, applying a questionnaire and a documentary evaluation. The diagnosis of shortcomings in the teaching of Basic Mathematics by the teachers shows limitations in the application of active methodologies, highlighting poor academic performance, inconsistent adoption of pedagogical strategies, insufficient curricular updating, scant application of technological tools, and evaluations with untimely feedback. Both groups emphasize the importance of cooperative learning, technological tools, and participation in learning assessment. Thus, active methodology improves curricular planning by promoting critical thinking, intellectual autonomy, and mathematical skills, reflected in the Teaching-Learning Process Conception and the course syllabus. Methodological strategies are enhanced through Problem-Based Learning, cooperative learning, projects, thought-based teaching, flipped classroom, and formative feedback. Finally, assessment in active methodology requires the adaptation of various instruments such as rubrics and evaluation criteria to assess student performance in practical and collaborative activities, as well as providing constructive formative feedback.
