The translation of children’s literature has gained increasing relevance in recent years, characterized by unique features such as its multiple audience, cultural adaptation (with domesticating and foreignizing approaches), and content manipulation. On the other hand, poetry translation presents its own challenges due to its marked language, rhythmic structure, and condensed meanings. Within this context, the overarching objective of our research is to analyze how these elements are negotiated in the Spanish translation of the children’s poetry anthology On the Move: Home Is Where You Find It (2020). Through an annotated translation, which serves as an analytical exercise in the translation process, and following Nord’s proposed approach, we will address three phases: pre-translation (analysis of the source text), translation (addressing challenges through techniques and strategies), and post-translation (contrastive analysis to evaluate decisions made and the differences between the source and target texts).
