Security in the logistics chain is an important issue in the world of international trade. Attempts at theft, concealment of drugs and other substances are increasingly complex and the methods discovered indicate that traffickers monitor licit markets and identify companies that do not comply with security and control measures, to act through them. Different initiatives have appeared that focus on promoting the development and application of effective security mechanisms that allow the prevention of crimes in foreign trade. One of them is BASC - Business Alliance for Secure Commerce -, an international business alliance that promotes safe trade with the support of governments and international organizations. However, there are still few certified companies in our country. This could be due to the lack of information from foreign trade operators, regarding the benefits that could be obtained when certified with this entity. The desire to know the impact of this certification on the associated companies led to the qualitative research being carried out in one of the most important economic sectors of our country, the textile sector - confections. Nine companies were evaluated with an office in Metropolitan Lima and that maintain their BASC certificate for more than five years, that is, they have a mature management system. It was discovered that the BASC certification does have a positive impact on the safety of the export product. However, it is not the main cause to raise the value of exports nor the decision factor to increase the number of customers. Regarding this last point, it was discovered that customers demand that companies have a management system in control and security. Achieving this request has generated companies to achieve long-term relationships with their customers. Even, on some occasions, it has contributed to close important negotiations with new buyers, where one of the requirements was just to comply with the minimum-security requirements, which can be implemented thanks to BASC.
