The objective of this research study was to determine if there is an association between knowledge and perception of risk associated with childhood obesity in mothers of schoolchildren of an Educational Institution Iquitos- 2017. The method the employee was the quantitative and the non-experimental design of correlational and transversal type. The population was 126 mothers and the sample of 95 mothers with the same characteristics as the study population, obtained by means of random probabilistic. The technique was the interview, and the instruments were the questionnaire (93.5% validity and 92.1% reliability), and the perception scale (94.3% validity and 93.7% reliability). The data was analyzed with the SPSS version 22.0. The inferential statistical test was the Chi square, with α = 0.05 and confidence level of 95%. The results are the following: With respect to the level of knowledge of childhood obesity, 87.4% (83) of mothers of schoolchildren came out with low knowledge and high level of knowledge 12.6% (12). Regarding the perception of risk that mothers have of their school children suffering from childhood obesity, 54.7% (52) perceived low risk and 45.3% (43) presented a high risk perception of becoming ill with obesity. According to the statistical analysis, there is a Chi square value X2c = 8.035 and a value p = 0.005 that is lower than the value of <α = 0.05, values that allow accepting the hypothesis, that is, there is a statistically significant association between the level of knowledge and the perception of risk of getting sick from childhood obesity.
