To determine the acute toxicity of the ethanolic extract fleaves, roots, bark of Unonopsis floribunda "icoja" in albino mice strain balb C53. The prospective experimental study had as an animal sample 40 albino C53 balb mice (20 females and 20 males) distributed in a negative control group and three experimental groups, to which. Prior to fasting, they were given a single dose orally of the ethanolic extract of the leaves, root, and bark of Unonopsis floribunda at a dose of 25mg/kg, 200 mg/kg, and 2000 mg/kg respectively. The body weight of the mice was recorded on day one and fourteen; the serum of the survivors was analyzed. The most important results found were: that, at the dose of 2000, 200 and 25 mg / kg of m.c. At the end of the 14 days of the study for the animals that survived, the measured biochemical tests indicated that there is apparently no difference with the values recorded for the mice in the control group. But the mortality of the mice that received the highest dose of bark was 75% being only 25% for the leaf and root extract. In the following extracts, deaths prevailed in mice that received leaf extract, mainly diagnosing infarction and necrosis. Damage to the hepatic, pulmonary and renal parenchyma predominated agains the cerebral parenchyma. In the case of the biochemical values determined to the survivors were normal values.
