The purpose of this work was to evaluate the behavior of the species Oryza sativa L. and Manihot esculenta Crantz, in locations with differentiated environmental characteristics. The objective of the study was to determine the effect of two locations on the yield and other agronomic characteristics of the “INIA 509 La Esperanza” rice variety and the “Señorita” cassava variety. The varieties were planted with Bactris gasipaes H.B.K, using a sequential associated model, in plots of producers of the localities EL DORADO and EL BOLLOQUITO. 15 repetitions were established for each variety in both locations, an experimental design was not applied. In rice, plant height (AP), number of tillers (NM), number of panicles (NP), grain weight per bush (PGM) and grain yield (RG) were evaluated; in cassava plant height (AP), first branch height (APR), stem diameter (DT), number of roots (NR), root length (LR), root diameter (DR), root weight per plant (PRP) and root performance (RR). The modified Shapiro Wilks normality test and Fisher's variance homogeneity test were applied. Statistical tests of Student's T comparison were used in variables with normal distribution and Mann-Whitney U in variables with non-normal distribution. In rice, all the characteristics evaluated showed highly significant differences (p value <0.01), the average being higher in the locality EL DORADO AP = 81.61 cm, NM = 21.55, NP = 21.55, PGM = 0.08 kg and RG = 2656.14 kh / ha . In cassava, the characteristic AP and AP showed highly significant differences (p value <0.01), the average being higher in the locality EL BOLLOQUITO with AP = 255.55 cm and APR = 130.22 cm; the variables DT, NRP, LR and DR did not show significant differences (p value> 0.05), while the variables PRP and RR presented significant differences (p value <0.05) with higher values in the EL DORADO location with PRP = 2.59 kg and RR = 19689.07 kg / ha. According to the results, it is considered that the information obtained can contribute to improve production systems in the study area and other places with similar environmental conditions.
