Slow Steaming is an adopted practice to reduce fuel consumption and polluting gas emissions. On the other hand, the knowledge of the tides in coastal areas is essential for navigation, mainly in regions with macro-tidal regime where the difference between high and low tide is crucial. This work of investigation presents a strategy for reducing fuel consumption and reducing the waiting time for the safe entry of the vessel to the port. In this way, a mathematical formulation with restrictions was adopted to identify the optimal configuration. The use of optimization tools proves that by combining the speeds properly, energy costs are minimized, in the same way, it calculates the intervals that the ship must wait until entering the port. According to the results, it is concluded that there is a reduction in travel costs when the vessel is operating in the condition of Slow Steaming.
