The objective of this research work is to determine the relationship between reading competence and learning in students in the Communication area of the Divino Maestro Educational Institution, San Martín, 2022. This study was based on a quantitative approach, hypothetical deductive method, with a non-experimental, cross-sectional research design aimed at identifying quantitative correlations. The population included a total of 466 students, with a sample of 210 members. The survey and two questionnaires were used as technique and instruments, respectively. An alpha coefficient of 0.93 was obtained for the internal consistency of the first Reading Competence variable, which indicates high reliability. Similarly, an alpha coefficient of 0.92 was obtained for the internal consistency of the second Learning variable, indicating relevant reliability. Descriptive statistics, graphs and interpretations of the collected data were prepared. Regarding the normality test of the variables, it was found that the data have a normal distribution, which allowed the use of non-parametric tests, such as the Rho Spearman correlation test, to verify the proposed hypotheses. In relation to the general hypothesis, Spearman's Rho analysis showed that r=0.647, which is highly significant. This indicates that the variables are considerably interrelated and with a positive trend. Concluding that the ability to read and understand effectively is essential to acquire knowledge and skills in various areas of learning.
