The objective of this research is to analyze the nutritional status of children under 6 months and the relationship with the type of breastfeeding. The level of research was relational, observational, cross-sectional, the population was 355 children, the sample 185 children. The instruments used were the questionnaire, the height rod, the digital scale. The results showed: 28% of the children were five months old, 23.7% of the children were four months old, 21% of the children were three months old, 14% of the children were two months old and 13.4% of the children were one month old. 43.5% of the children had a normal nutritional status and were exclusively breastfed; 19.9% of the children had a normal nutritional status and mixed breastfeeding; 7.5% had a nutritional status of malnutrition and were exclusively breastfed; 5.9% of the children had a normal nutritional status and were artificially breastfed. The values of the relationship and correlation of the variables are p= 0.482 and coefficient = 0.038. It was concluded that there is no relationship between nutritional status and the type of breastfeeding.
