deportivas.
In the context of population aging, the relationship between physical activity and mental health becomes crucial. With projections indicating a significant increase in the older adult population by 2050, understanding how physical activity can influence anxiety within this population group is of great importance. Although the beneficial potential of physical activity on the mental health of older adults is recognized, these relationships remain to be explored specifically in settings such as senior centers. These spaces are essential in the care of this population and understanding this connection can guide effective mental health intervention and promotion strategies. Given this panorama, the need arises to further investigate this interrelation to comprehensively address emotional well-being in old age. The objective of the study was to determine the relationship between the level of physical activity and anxiety in older adults from a center for the elderly, 2024. An observational, correlational and cross-sectional study was carried out in a sample of 80 older adults. The instruments were the Beck Anxiety Questionnaire and the Activities Questionnaire for the Elderly. The results were: no significant correlation was found between physical activity and anxiety in the dimensions of locomotion, recreation and home activities. However, a significant negative correlation was observed between anxiety and physical activity in the sport dimension, suggesting that the greater the anxiety, the less participation in sports activities.
