In the present investigation, the objective is to improve the production process of leather footwear through the Lean Manufacturing and 5S tool, in an SME that produces leather footwear in the city of Arequipa, for which the problems in the production line are analyzed, being the distribution of the plant, which generates excess times in the route of the material in process caused by the limitations of the three-storey facilities and that means the transfer from one floor to another, the areas not being located according to the production process and the Waste of space due to useful machines that are not in use, another problem is the disorder and cleaning in the cutting, painting and assembly areas, which generates waste of time when starting the process by not ordering the tools used at the end due to accumulation of waste and tools. Once the causes have been determined, it is proposed to use the SLP to minimize the transfer of the material in process and the 5'S to reduce the disorder and cleaning of the cutting, painting and assembly areas these methods based on the Lean Manufacturingmethodology, with the methods obtained a minimization indistance and times equivalent to 4.35% and 24.33% respectively for R-38 leather footwear. Finally, from this reduction, the ARENA software was used to model a simulation and evaluate with the data collected before and after the improvement proposal in a parameter of 1 year, obtaining as a result an increase of 1464pairs of leather shoes represented 4.35% with respect to production, thus making the proposal to improve productivity feasible.
