This thesis seeks to improve the management of material inventoriesof a metal mechanical company in the city of Arequipa that is dedicated to providing manufacturing and industrial maintenance services to mostly mining customers, using the Economic order quantityt (EOQ) method. The mechanical metal sector has been growing since 2018, including the company of our study, however, it does not have a definite management of any process and this causes deficiencies in the use of resources and unnecessary waste of assets, which translate into high material supply costs and warehouse costs.Under this context, it is proposed to improve the management of material supply by calculating an EOQ of each primary material that must be classified by the ABC method, to establish a more efficient purchasing process with lower costs. The results of this improvement are quantified with the reduction of the annual supply cost of up to 65% compared to the annual order cost of the year 2019 and with the reduction of the supply time in 2 hours and 50 minutes. It is also achieved with the new distribution of the deposit areas, a recovery of 1.03m2that are valued for their opportunity cost in S / 100.63.
