The purpose of the following research work was to propose the implementation of a preventive maintenance plan for the cell flotation area located at the Chinalco - Peru copper processing plant, based on the specific objectives of diagnosing the current situation with regard to maintenance preventive of the machines of the cell flotation area in the company, determine the causes that cause the failures of stops in the machines, design a plan of preventive maintenance for the cells KYF 300 of the flotation area and evaluate economically and financially the Proposed preventive maintenance plan. The investigation was placed under the modality of a feasible project; based on a field investigation at a descriptive level. The population consisted of one (1) machine, and four (4) operators that were within the phenomenon to be studied, taking as sample the total population. Direct observation and informal interviewing were used as a data collection technique and the registration form and the questionnaire were used as instruments. It was concluded fulfilling the general objective of proposing a preventive maintenance plan, in order to optimize the operational performance of the machinery during the production process, and thus try to reduce the frequency of corrective maintenance, in the flotation cells KYF -300 the one that will increase the productivity in the copper processing plant of minera Chinalco - Peru; When diagnosing the current situation with regard to preventive maintenance, it can be concluded that the machines work in a poor way due to the constant unscheduled stops, and periodic preventive maintenance is not carried out due to the lack of a maintenance plan; the most relevant causes that give rise to failures of shutdowns in machines are methods, labor, materials, the environment, among others; The savings we will obtain to implement a preventive maintenance plan is S /. 2.9427 which generates a NPV of S / .6,023.78 and a TIR of 13% which gives us a return on investment in 5 years.
