Introduction: Every year 14 million babies are born to young mothers. It is estimated that almost 66% of child deaths worldwide occur in the first month of life and 60% in the first week of life, mainly due to poor care of the newborn, since it is in the period of adaptation. Objective: It was to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and practices of adolescent mothers in newborn care at the Medalla Milagrosa Health Center – 2023. Methodology: A quantitative, non-experimental and descriptive-correlational approach was carried out, with a cross-sectional design. The target research population consisted of 80 individuals linked to the Medalla Milagrosa Health Center in San Juan de Lurigancho, Lima. The sample, for its part, was made up of 67 teenage mothers. To carry out the field phase, the survey technique was chosen, using a questionnaire as an instrument. Results: The results showed that the relationship between knowledge and practices has a moderate correlation (r = 67.0), and the significance was = 0.000 < 0.05, rejecting the null hypothesis. As a result, adolescent mothers have deficient knowledge, since there was a high percentage of lack of knowledge (61.2%) about the care they should have with their newborn children and 65.7% presented inadequate practices. Conclusions: It was determined that new mothers of adolescents are not prepared to perform this role and need advice from both nursing and family staff.
