ABSTRACT The present study evaluates the economic reduction of the environmental impact of the "LA MERCED S.A" industry through the use of cleaner production. Reducing the consumption of water supplies and resources. In this study two types of options for this reduction have been analyzed: reduction of chemical and auxiliary consumption in the JET dyeing machine and reduction of water, acid and dispersant use by bathing in dyeing. To carry out this study, cleaner production standards had to be used in order to identify the exact locations where pollution occurred and the greater use of chemical inputs. During the study different technical views of the plant, machinery, equipment, analysis of administrative and operational processes were carried out. Information was collected on the process of dyeing, raw material and consumption of resources, in order to be able to carry out the technical evaluation. Different samples of residual water were taken into account at the time of the discharges of the machine. The economic analysis shows that the implementation of these cleaner production projects yields an economic benefit of USD $ 9389.62 with an investment of USD $ 1695.00, during a time of recovery of the investment of seven and a half months. Among the environmental benefits are the reduction of the pollutant load and water consumption by 66.7%.
