Wordplays are a constant subject of analysis in audiovisual translation. Depending on the material, audiovisual in this case, these items may play a prominent role in discursive construction. In the children's animated series, The Fairly Oddparents, humor is based on these elements, which poses translation problems in the dubbing process, especially due to its multimodal nature and its target audience of children over the age of seven. Therefore, this research analyzes the translation of American English wordplays into Latin American Spanish in the dubbing of the first five seasons of the children's animated series The Fairly Oddparents. This research uses a theoretical framework that integrates audiovisual translation, multimodality and narratological theory. It is assumed that wordplays predominate in the series and that the series dubbing employs translation techniques such as neutralization, adaptation and reduction that modify the humorous function and character characterization in the target language. In this sense, this study may contribute to a better understanding of the changes made in the dubbing of children's animated series.
