This study analyzes the effectiveness of the National Program of Direct Support to the Poorest “Juntos” in reducing infant mortality in the Andean and Amazon regions of Peru during the period 2018-2023. This program, which operates through conditional cash transfers to families in vulnerable situations, has generated various socioeconomic impacts that require rigorous and comprehensive evaluation. Empirical evidence suggests that the effectiveness of the program is significantly mediated by variables such as the educational level of beneficiaries and effective access to health services. To test this hypothesis, an econometric model was implemented following the methodology proposed by Barham (2011), adapted to the Peruvian context. The analysis uses panel data with fixed effects at the district and time level, allowing to control for both time invariant characteristics and time shocks that could affect program outcomes.
