This study analyzes how the educational level of parents is related to the educational achievement of their children in Peru, differentiating between urban and rural areas. Parental education emerges as a determining factor in the academic performance of children, with effects on their social mobility and future opportunities. Using data from the National Household Survey (ENAHO) between 2015 and 2023, we examine how this intergenerational educational transmission varies by geographic context. Preliminary results reveal a significant effect of parents' education on that of their children, with this effect being more accentuated in rural contexts. Additional variables, such as gender, mother tongue and region, also influence this transmission, intensifying educational inequalities. These findings provide evidence to promote policies that promote equality in educational access and reduce intergenerational gaps in Peru.
