Dengue is the arbovirus with the greatest global spread and is a public health problem since almost half of the world's population can contract the disease, which has an impact on issues of morbidity and mortality and economic importance. The measurement of mean platelet volume is an attractive index that has been introduced in the study of different clinical scenarios because it is universally available and reproducible. Due to its relationship with inflammatory and infectious processes, there is research that relates it to the severity and prognosis of different pathologies; however, there are no publications that link it to Dengue. A little-used biomarker such as MPV would be very useful in the prognosis and monitoring of this dis ease. Objective: To determine the analytical evolution of the Mean Platelet Volume in patients hospi talized for Dengue at the Luis Arias Schreiber Central Military Hospital 2023. Materials and Methods: The present study has a quantitative, basic approach and non-experimental design where the average platelet volume was evaluated in patients hospitalized for Dengue. A review of the automated blood counts analyzed in the ICON 5-NORMA hematology counter was carried out during the months of January and February 2023. Platelet volume data was obtained from the blood count biometry and was classified using its reference intervals, during the days of hospital stay from the day of onset until dis charge to see their evolution during the disease process. Results: The analytical evolution of MPV on the different days of hospitalization begins with a low average MPV of 8.66 ± 0.89 fL and increases from the fifth day until discharge with an average MPV of 9.80 ± 0.87 fL. Conclusion: There is a favora ble analytical evolution over time of the mean platelet volume during Dengue disease since the average basal MPV (day 1) is different from the average MPV at hospital discharge.
