Objective: To analyze the relationship between the level of information about surgical treatment and the degree of anxiety in the preoperative patient of a National Hospital the Lima Metropolitana, 2003 . Methodology: A quantitative, applied, non-experimental, correlational, cross-sectional study approach was developed; The population was 80 preoperative patients from the National Hospital the Lima Metropolitana. Results. In age, they are 18 to 28 years old in 7.5%, 29 to 39 years old in 13.8%, 40 to 49 years old in 41.3% and over 49 years old in 37.5%; In Sex, 55% are male and 45% are female; In terms of education, there is no education, there are 12.5%; primary in 22.5%, secondary in 36.3% and higher in 28.8%. In the information dimension about the presurgical visit with the degree of anxiety in the preoperative patient, there is high anxiety with the level of information being known in 45%. In the information dimension about anesthesia with the degree of anxiety in the preoperative patient, there is high anxiety with the level of information not known in 47.5%. In the information dimension about the procedure with degree of anxiety in preoperative patients, there is high anxiety with the level of information being known at 45%. The conclusion is that there is a relationship between the variables, equivalent to 0.756, which indicates a high correlation.
