como factor protector (OR=0.618).
(OR=0.792).
Aim: to determine the risk factors associated with high blood pressure according to the Demographic and Family Health Survey (ENDES) 2023 in Peru. Methodology: a quantitative, retrospective and non-experimental study was carried out, analyzing data from 29,826 respondents over 18 years of age. Descriptive analysis and multivariate logistic regression were used to identify risk factors. Results: the prevalence of high blood pressure was 9.2%. Among the non-modifiable risk factors, advanced age showed a significant association, with an increasing risk in older age groups (OR=22.893 for 60 years or older). Being male acted as a protective factor (OR=0.618). Regarding the modifiable factors, the diagnosis of diabetes (OR=6.579) and obesity/overweight (OR=1.576) were significantly associated with a higher risk of hypertension. Adequate fruit consumption turned out to be a protective factor (OR=0.792). Conclusion: it is concluded that there are multiple risk factors associated with arterial hypertension in the Peruvian population, highlighting the importance of prevention strategies focused on metabolic control and healthy lifestyles.
